Insulation A healthy way to saving energy
Energy-efficient living in this time have become a world trend. In some parts of the world, campaign of energy-efficient is getting louder voiced as a part of movement fight against global warming.
In relation to house building, the use of insulators as elements of the building began to be taken into account in order to save energy. Introduction of building insulation products and techniques has become the attention of the building design. The concept of energy-efficient buildings also become an important reference in designing a residential or office buildings.
What is exactly an insulator? Insulator have a meaning of material which do not pass electrics or have the character of non-conductors. The working principle is as an insulator insulation system that is able to withstand the temperature. Materials classified as insulatorssuch as plastics, ebonite, wood, paper, and land.
In building construction, insulation serves to absorb heat and cool air from outside, so that the temperature inside the house would not be too hot or too cold. A house with good insulation system will be able to give comfort to residents without having to wasteful use of electricity. Use of heating with electricity or gas energy will be greatly reduced. That means reducing energy consumption makes emissions that come out become smallly.
Insulators or insulating material can be a variety of materials, including wood, glass and fiberglass. Insulator from the timber for example in the form of a door or window. For example, in a building window placement with large glass can function as an insulator when the sun is able to enter into a room that makes the room was always bright.
Application of insulation for buildings has been conducted in various countries. In Denmark for example, about three years ago, the government issued a regulation that sets standards of home based on the level of electric efficiency. This standard, among others, aims to reduce emissions from electricity usage.
The law was enacted as the Building Code of Ethics which one provides the certification level of the house in terms of reducing emissions. In the year 2010 all the buildings in this country must have a certificate of “green house”. This certificate is issued by a government agency called the Danish Energy Authority.
Besides Denmark, Wales Region, in parts of England also pioneered the application of green building standards. In 2009 the local government announced a reduction legislation and exploiting of friendly materials of going concern environment. At the same time with the enactment of this Act, socialization usage of insulator progressively in intensively. The results in about two years there was a cumulative energy savings up to 35%.
Insulation not only used in house building, but preferably also in industry and massive buildings, such as office space. Like Ikea building in Singapore and Malaysia, railway stations Lok Ma Chau in Hong Kong, Singapore Changi Airport, the National Convention Centre in Vietnam, and Low Energy Office (LEO) from the Malaysian Ministry of Energy; use insulation in the building design.
Now that advanced countries in Europe are also planning to apply the rules of passive house in 2016. England for example, will start at 2015 and Germany and the Netherlands in 2015. Even France is very ambitious with the plus energy house standards – namely the energy-producing homes – that will be introduced in 2020.
